IDE unstable with FPC 2.1.4 lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- KyRo · 2007-07-09 17:42 Hey folks, I've serious trouble with the Lazarus IDE running fine on my computer. First of all some specs: AMD64 3000+ 1.5 GB RAM kubuntu feisty fawn 7.04 x86_64 Because there's a bug or whatever on AMD64 & gdb, I'm not able to see the content of any variable, constant etc. using FPC 2.0.x. I read somewhere that this is fixed in 2.1.x, and I have to say it is - but this one problem solved brings another: The Lazarus IDE crashes everytime a new window would be opened, e.g. load/save dialogs, options-windows etc - but starting the program and debugging seems to work fine.  This is the whole stuff that is written in the console during the program is running: QuoteTApplication.IconChanged - TODO: convert this message...no implementation in gtk or win32 NOTE: help options config file not found - using defaults TManagedBreakPoints.NotifyAdd A /home/swagner/Dokumente/Entwicklung/Li nux/Delphi/FBScriptInterpreter/FBScriptInterpreter.pas 767 TManagedBreakPoints.NotifyAdd A /home/swagner/Dokumente/Programme/laza rus/lcl/interfaces/gtk/gtkproc.inc 7146 TMainIDE.DoLoadLFM there is no LFM file for "/home/swagner/Dokumente/P rogramme/lazarus/lcl/interfaces/gtk/gtkextra.pp" TMainIDE.DoLoadLFM there is no LFM file for "/home/swagner/Dokumente/E ntwicklung/Linux/Delphi/FBScriptInterpreter/FBScriptInterpreter.pas" TApplication.HandleException Access violation   Stack trace: TApplication.HandleException: there was another exception during showing the first exception   Stack trace:   $000000000060CAE6   $0000000000620CC0   $000000000061B6CA   $0000000000803F32   $000000000080F268   $00002B0FAC144326 Note: GetTextBuf is overridden for: `  _p."^+ lazarus.pp - unhandled exception [TMainIDE.Destroy] A [FORMS.PP] ExceptionOccurred First of all I thought it could be a version conflict between two versions of FPC - so I removed every version except 2.1.4. Next thing I tried was reinstalling FPC and recompiling Lazarus .22. After several tries, I tried the same with .23, same results: 2.0.4 works fine except debugging, 2.1.4 crashes. OK - next try was the svn release of the FPC-source, as the gtk2 interface for my projects doesn't work properly either with 2.1.4. Then reinstall, recompile, same problem. I'm running out of ideas... I've to say that I'm unsure if this issue could belong to 2.1.4 itself, because when I tried to compile the 2.1.4 sources with 2.1.4 itself, compiling crashed with a similar exception, where 2.0.4 worked fine here, too. to be honest, I'm getting a little bit pissed... I dunno why it seems that it is not possible for any linux program to run out-of-the-box, but the similar windows programs work fine on first start... hope for help, greets ---------------------------------------------------------------------- KyRo · 2007-07-10 19:26 no ideas? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2007-07-10 20:16 Please follow the instructions here: http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Creating_a_Backtrace_with_GDB And create a backtrace of the crash. Just as a side note, Lazarus with FPC 2.1.5 works normally on my Mac. I never tested this combination on Linux. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- KyRo · 2007-07-15 13:45 QuoteProgram received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
