Installing Lazarus on Ubuntu 6.10 lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MIB_BR · 2007-03-21 08:59 I've used these instructions on how to install Lazarus: http://wiki.la zarus.freepascal.org/Installing_Lazarus#Another_way_to_install_Lazarus _under_Debian I get two (related?) problems: apt-get install libgdk-pixbuf-dev does not work - no package can be found When I try to launch lazarus (/usr/bin/startlazarus) I get this:  error while loading shared libraries: libgdk_pixbuf.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Can anybody please help? I'm new to Linux and this dependency-hell almost makes me like Windows and the way you install applications on Windows. Please help me to get a proper start on Linux. Regards Michael ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jozagulikoza · 2007-03-21 13:26 If You havent on CD/DVD You can downblolad libgdk-pixbuf-dev from: http://packages.ubuntu.com/warty/libdevel/libgdk-pixbuf-dev ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MentalNotes · 2007-03-22 16:39 Hi Michael, Unfortunately the wiki seems to be down at the moment so I can't read the steps you followed. To install libgdk-pixbuf-dev you need to have the universe repository enabled. To do this follow the instructions here: https://help.ubuntu.com/6.10/ubuntu/desktopguide/C/extra- repositories.html Then open Synaptic Package Manager in System -> Administration and click Reload. Do a search for libgdk-pixbuf-dev and click the check box to mark it for installation. You will also need to do this for libgtk1.2-dev. Click Apply and after a few moments you should be ready to go. Good Luck ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MIB_BR · 2007-03-29 22:57 Hi MentalNotes, Used your advice and it worked like a charm! Lazarus is now running. Thanks!
