Which gtk?

Does the installation of Lazarus require GTK1? I'm asking because my
Linux distribution (Zenwalk) has dropped GTK1, so I don't currently
have it installed -- I only have GTK2. I know that you can recompile
the Lazarus IDE to work with GTK2, but I'm wondering if the
installation process itself requires GTK1.

The binary packages distributed by the Lazarus team require gtk1.

If you install Lazarus from source, you can compile Lazarus for gtk2.

I tried a "make clean all" and it compiled OK, and then it failed in
the linking:

Code: [Select]Linking ../lazarus
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lgdk
lazarus.pp(119,1) Error: Error while linking


So do I need to install GTK1 first before I can install Lazarus, or
can I really install and run Lazarus with only GTK2?

To compile lazarus for gtk2, use: Code: [Select]make LCL_PLATFORM=gtk2

Thanks, now it compiles and links properly, but when I run lazarus, I
get an error:

Hi,
 I've got no problem to compile and launch Lazarus from v0.9.18 to
v0.9.23 with gtk2 and FPC 2.0.4 too.

Maybe it's because i'm using Mandriva 2007.0 (a RedHat linux)

I use GTK2 v2.10 and a maximum of associated
libraries.(gtk/gdk/pixbuf/...)

But do you have the gtk1 libraries installed on your system?

Works fine with the latest Lazarus, 0.9.24. Well done boys.
