indy not compiling in linux

I am trying to compile a server program under Red Hat OS using indy
10.  When I put an indy idUDPServer from the server core tab on my
form,  activate it's property, and try to run, I get an error and
LResources file shows up and Reader.ReaderRootComponent is
highlighted.  I'm new at linux but I've used indy with Dephi  on
Windows systems.  I don't know if this has anything to do with my
problem, but I have to start lazarus by typing in 'startlazarus' in
order for the indy compnents to show up.  I also had to manualy put in
some of the clauses for 'Uses' so my project would compile.  Is this
what's supposed to happen?  My project runs fine if the indy
components aren't 'Active'.
