Audio applications lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- laserbeak43 · 2006-12-24 00:21 Hi I'm very new to lazarus. and have done very little with delphi. although what i have done has been very nice. i'm interested in making audio performance and production applications. i was using the following libraries in windows: BASS2.3 MIDICOM3 and DIBtools the problem is, that i really want to migrate to linux. i'm using opensuse10.0 at the moment, with the JAD kernel from jacklab. for realtime audio. will i be able to find audio and midi libraries for object pascal that i could use on linux? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2006-12-24 02:12 I find the Audio Component Suite excelent: http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/ACS There is also OpenAL. There are probably free pascal bindings for it. There is also esound library, but that only works on linux. Ok, there are lot´s of audio libraries. Some cross-platforms, others only work on 1 platform. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- laserbeak43 · 2006-12-24 07:05 oh ok thanks!! i think it really sucks that i couldnt really find too many straight forward answers by googling. i hope that changes in the future. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- laserbeak43 · 2006-12-24 07:20 hmm esound looks like it hasnt been touched since 2000. although it's probably great. i need something up to date i guess to start out with since im a newb(i think) OpenAL looks good. if i were using jack to playback sound and this needed to use the ALSA driver then would i be playing the result back through JACK? ACS looks pretty good two. i guess it's a matter of comparing OpenAL and ACS for now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- laserbeak43 · 2006-12-24 07:33 hmm OpenAL bears the creative logo does that mean i need a soundblaster to use this?? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2006-12-24 11:50 Quote from: "laserbeak43"OpenAL looks good. if i were using jack to playback sound and this needed to use the ALSA driver then would i be playing the result back through JACK? I have no idea. On openal website there is a link to mailling lists about it. Better ask there.
