How to find dependences of a created aplication lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- oscarpoio · 2006-12-03 23:16 Hi I created some aplications (little programs for my little pupils   ) under delphi in the past, I ported it into lazarus to have the same programs working under linux, all works great. As I said I came from Delphi world in windows, where  after compile the aplication you only have to copy the executable files (and aditional files needed) to other computer and works without problems. ¿How can I use a lazarus program made under linux to another Linux machine? In order to create rpm files to save dependences, ¿how can I known which are the dependeces of my created programs? Until now I found a "strange solution" that is to install lazarus in the machines where I want to use this programs, but this is not a real solution. ¿any sugestion? Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2006-12-04 01:51 Quote from: "oscarpoio"¿How can I use a lazarus program made under linux to another Linux machine? There is a tutorial about creating RPM packages for Lazarus software here: http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Deploying_Your_Application#Creating _a_RPM_Package_on_Linux Basically your program will depend on the toolkit library it was compiled for. And also everything that library requires. In the case of Gtk 1 you will depend on Gtk 1 and Gtk-pixbuf 1, and also everything they depend, which is X11, glibc, etc, etc, etc... To see exactly all the libraries any executable requires you can use the command: ldd myexecutable This command shows every library you depend on, directly or indirectly. When creating a RPM package you don´t have to worry about this because RPM calls ldd on the executable automatically and adds the dependencies for you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- oscarpoio · 2006-12-04 14:31 Thanks a lot,  I will try it ---------------------------------------------------------------------- oscarpoio · 2006-12-04 22:22 I was trying to follow this wiki but I found a step that I don't know how to follow. "To build a binary package open a spec file with Emacs text editor. On Emacs open the menu "RPM spec" --> "RPM Build" --> "Build Binary Package". This will create a .rpm file under the directory RPM/RPMS" I can't found this option in Emacs [updated] I have finally created my rpm packages. I found a program named autospec what generates spec finles from a tar.gz file very easy to create RPMS http://www.freeit.net/content.php?article.10 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2006-12-05 00:49 Quote from: "oscarpoio"I can't found this option in Emacs It appears only when you are editing a file with .spec extension. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- oscarpoio · 2006-12-05 18:44 Even editing a file with .spec extension on emacs this option doesn't apear anywhere I'm using 21.3.1 under opensuse 10.1
