Framebuffer lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thlanger · 2006-10-13 13:11 Hi, is it possible to write Programms that work with only framebuffer? I think, mazbe I can link it against gtk+direktFB. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2006-10-13 13:50 I think that noone has tryed that before, the only way to find out is testing! If the gtk 1 interface doesn't work you can also try gtk2 and qt interfaces. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- angman · 2006-10-20 13:17 are GTk2 and QT interfaces already working? angman ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2006-10-20 17:44 Quote from: "angman"are GTk2 and QT interfaces already working? There is only one big bad bug on Gtk2 interface that prevents Lazarus from working correctly with it (autosize is wrong and freezes some dialogs). Aside from that it should work for most applications you develop. Qt 4 has most controls working, but is very new, so everything is a little incomplete. It works good on Linux, Windows and Mac OS X. With some small changes it can also work for Qtopia on Framebuffer. It would be awsome to be able to display simple gui's without a full X installation in Ramdisk based setups. What would be thre process to link to another GTK library such as GTK- DFB? Mikael ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2006-11-25 11:03 QuoteWhat would be thre process to link to another GTK library such as GTK-DFB? I went to google and put the string "How to link gtk for directfb", and it gives 2 very good links www.directfb.org http://www.directfb.org/wiki/index.php/Projects:GTK_on_DirectFB_for_Em bedded_Systems I think you don´t have to change your software. You only need to recompile Gtk and all other needed libraries with some special options, and that should be it. But I could be wrong. Someone will need to test this. And if you do, please tell us how you made it work =) A wiki article with a tutorial would be nice. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mikaelo · 2006-11-26 19:56 I might just try it. It might take a little while as I need to set up a box to host builds for semi embedded ram disk based systems. I might try to add gtk-FB to it as well. I'm wondering though how fonts will be dealt with, if I still need a font server. It would be nice if I could use simple font files...something to investigate when I get to that point. I will definatly post and make a write-up if I succeed as I belive this might be of use for embedded stuff for other people. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- avra · 2013-12-04 10:33 I know this is an ancient thread, but because of it's name I want to add some not mentioned framebuffer based alternative libraries so one does not loose time searching like I already have. This is just a collected list, not something tested. Please feel free to correct or add anything I missed.
