Getting Lazarus to use FPC 2.0.4 lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- krisleech · 2006-09-22 15:58 Hi I recently upgraded Lazarus on Win32 to use the more recent FPC 2.0.4 so I could use the ZeosLib packages. I now wish to do the same for Lazarus on Linux, but i think I might have messed it up! Basically I install the latest FPC 2.0.4, no problem there. I think it installed on top of the existing FPC (/usr/bin), I think, Im not actually sure because Win32 Lazarus comes with FPC, but looking in /usr/lib/lazarus there is no fpcsrc folder! Anyway I have fpc 2.0.4 installed and Lazarus set to use it, but when I try and build Lazarus I get an error: /usr/lib/lazarus/ide/lazarus.pp(1,1) Fatal: Can't find unit Interfaces Any help on this would be great, many thanks. PS. Im on Fedora 5. I see on the forum quite a few posts re: fedora 5 but I installed Lazarus fine without problems ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2006-09-22 17:43 > but looking in /usr/lib/lazarus there is no fpcsrc folder! Under linux fpcsrc comes as a separate package, and is installed on another location. > Anyway I have fpc 2.0.4 installed and Lazarus set to use it, but when I try and build Lazarus I get an error: You need to rebuild lazarus. Go to the folder where lazarus is, and type: make clean all Another easier way to get everything you need working is to install Lazarus version 1.18 which was just released. You can get it here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=89339 Download and install there three packages: fpc-2.0.4-0.i586.rpm fpc- src-2.0.4-0.i386.rpm lazarus-0.9.18-0.i386.rpm ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2006-09-22 18:32 Lazarus 0.9.18 has not been released yet, no anouncement has been posted yet. The files on sf might be replaced in the coming days, if it is decided a bug needs to be fixed in this release. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- krisleech · 2006-09-23 09:57 Many thanks, that is helpful. I think I will wait for the next version of Lazarus if it is going to use fpc 2.0.4! I know this is not really a Lazarus question as such, but how do I uninstall Lazarus? I have tried "add/remove programs" but do not see Lazarus as an entry... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Yopai · 2006-10-08 19:32 thanks a lot I had the problem above "interface not found" when trying to rebuild Lazarus by the IDE That was because I, as a normal user, didn't have write rights (but the message is obviously not very clear :-) Running "make clean all" as root solved the problem ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Onjahyr-BR · 2006-10-08 22:23 After one of the updates of the Lazarus (revisions), package ZEOS did not install more. I use the Lazarus in the Linux, obtained to reinstall the component thus: Menu "Components" --> "Configures installed packages...". After to appear the window "Installed Packages", I made: I selected the packages: zparsesql 6.5.1 zplain 6.5.1 zdbc 6.5.1 to one click in the button "Uninstall selection". Later, I remade the installation of the package zcomponent.lpk normally. It functioned. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- krisleech · 2006-10-09 09:18 Hi Onjahyr-BR, would it be worth letting the Zeoslib people know so that they can update their packages to work with Lazarus? I have had the ZeosLib (latest version) working with the previous version of Lazarus (recompiled with FPC 2.0.4)... By the way are there not more packages you need to install, eg. Core? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Onjahyr-BR · 2006-10-09 19:45 QuoteHi Onjahyr-BR, would it be worth letting the Zeoslib people know so that they can update their packages to work with Lazarus? yes ---------------------------------------------------------------------- krisleech · 2006-10-09 19:59 Today I have upgraded to latest Lazarus (0.9.18) and installed the latest ZeosLib (6.5.1 rev 102), after a bit of messing it installed fine. This is on Win32, I have yet to try on Linux. All I had to do was un-install Zeolib (recompiled Lazarus) delete the old ZeosLib folders and install the new package. If anything goes wrong during compile/install it is helpful to delete everything in the build folder to get a clean recompile. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- skywriter · 2007-03-21 06:17 Quote from: "sekel"> Download and install there three packages: fpc-2.0.4-0.i586.rpm fpc- src-2.0.4-0.i386.rpm lazarus-0.9.18-0.i386.rpm Hi there! I made what have been said above. But during install lazarus-0.9.18-0.i386.rpm from console (rpm -Uhv, distro - Mandriva 2006) i got the same error as i got before installing  fpc-src-2.0.4 : "fpc-src-2.0.4 needed". What i have to do to make lazarus see fpc-src ? And why fpc-src-2.0.4-0.i386.rpm can be installed only under "root"? Can this be the root of trouble? I tried to install  lazarus-0.9.18-0.i386.rpm under "root" too - result is the same.
