I am desperate : dependencies on RPM installation. lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I_am_root · 2006-08-20 21:50 I tried to install Lazarus on my computer, immediately after installing fpc. Well, it said it can't complete operation because of unsolved dependency (pixbuf-devel). Then I go on my friend's computer (who doesn't have Linux) to download (because I do NOT have internet) the requested RPM; I transfer it on mine's with a disquette and I try to install the new package : another unsolved dependency . After 40 minutes, 9 downloads and 10 "unsolved dependency error"s, my friend gets a bit mad. So I would like to ask you : can somebody tell me how you managed to install it ??? Thanks. I work on Mandriva 2006 Free (3 CDs edition). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CCRDude · 2006-08-21 07:32 Even if you don't have Internet, those packages are mostly standard, you should be able to install them from the CDs you installed Linux from if you just use the packet manager. Not too sure which one it is exactly on Mandriva edit: On Debian, it would be "apt-get install packagename", and the package would be installed from the sources, which could be the disks, contrary to the manual install using "dpkg -i filename". With RPM, the manual installation would be done through "rpm -i filename", but there should be some kind of tool that would allow an installation through package name from the disks. On RedHat it's called "up2date -i packagename", maybe you should try that ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RudieD · 2006-08-21 19:17 I think that Mandriva CD4 has those lib's. That's one reason I rather use Fedora, You get everything (4CD's). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2006-08-21 22:22 Quote from: "RudieD"I think that Mandriva CD4 has those lib's. Mandriva comes pre- configured to install things from the CDs. Go back to your very patient friend and look for the website http://rpmseek.com. Run a search for every dependency you are missing, download them and burm them onto a disk. On your own machine add the disk to the installation media through control panel. Then, try to install Lazarus again. Your system should ask for the disk that you have added and then install Lazarus properly. Good Luck.
