Compiling Lazarus with GTK2 lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- flaxeater · 2006-06-21 03:27 I have seemingly compiled lazarus with GTK2 with no apparent errors, a couple of TODO: warnings.  However when I run it It's blank, the Top bar shows up and the editor pane is there but both only have the title bar and a blank white canvas.  Also when I kill it iget a whole bunch of errors.  I would appreciate any hints.  I'm somewhat new to Pascal as a GUI langauge on Linux.  Here's what I get on the shell.  Has anyone seen this before? general@crabtree:~$ sudo lazarus Password: TApplication.IconChanged - TODO: convert this message...no implementation in gtk or win32 NOTE: codetools config file not found - using defaults NOTE: help options config file not found - using defaults TMainIDE.DoNewProject A TMainIDE.DoNewEditorFile A NewFilename= TPascalParserTool.BuildTree B OnlyIntf=False  project1.lpr [FORMS.PP] ExceptionOccurred   Sender=EAccessViolation   Exception=Access violation   Stack trace:   $B78DB4CB  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B773F258  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B773FDCC  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B770740A  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B77074D4  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B78405CC  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B782D658  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B782B664  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B783E798  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B782CEB1  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B782D3FA  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B786D3AC  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B79C8176  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B7771C24  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B724C0FB  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B79CEE43  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B79DE144  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas TApplication.HandleException Access violation   Stack trace:   $B78DB4CB  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B773F258  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B773FDCC  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B770740A  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B77074D4  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B78405CC  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B782D658  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B782B664  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B783E798  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B782CEB1  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B782D3FA  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B786D3AC  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B79C8176  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B7771C24  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B724C0FB  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B79CEE43  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas   $B79DE144  CODEEXPLOPTS_finalize,  line 104 of debugoptionsfrm.pas ---------------------------------------------------------------------- flaxeater · 2006-06-21 04:09 Ohh, Also I'm running Ubuntu 6 and I don't have a problem rebuilding this with gtk1 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Marc · 2006-06-21 09:59 Creating apps with gtk2 is no problem. Using the IDE with gtk2 is not advisable ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2006-06-21 11:50 This was recently fixed. If you use a latest subversion it should work. But still, it´s better to use the IDE compiled for Gtk 1. It´s more stable and faster. To create a Gtk 2 software on your Gtk 1 IDE you just have to go to the menu: Tools --> "Configure Build Lazarus". Set LCL to Clean+Build and everything else to NONE. Set Gtk 2. Close this dialog Now hit: Tools --> Build Lazarus Now you can go on Project --> "Compiler Options" and change the widgetset to Gtk 2. The next time you rebuild your project it should be built for Gtk 2. You can also repeat this to generate Qt 4 software, with the only difference that you need to download an extra library to work with qt4 (more information here: http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/Qt_Interface ). My recomendation is to use the IDE compiled for Gtk 1 and see if Gtk 2 works for you software. If not, you can use Gtk 1 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- flaxeater · 2006-06-26 03:14 Yes compiling my simple apps in GTK2 works fine and looks good.  GTK2 is just so darned fugly.  However I have resigned myself to gtk1 for now.  I'll wait for the next version of lazarus and try it in GTK2.  Thanks for the reply.
