Rebuilding IDE with Packages sqldb & mysql4laz

Any help is appreciated..

I cannot seem to add mysql4laz.lpk and compile and rebuild Lazarus.
SQLdb package is already installed..TAB in place with TxxConnections
At the very end after all is compiled and linked I get an error.

I am doing this work as root as I cannot seem to add these packages as
user.

I drop components/Open Package file/  Choose the mysql4laz.lpk and the
Package Manager Opens..Click Compile..Ok..Click install all seems to
go well until the very end..message..
Compiling Lazarus.pp..Linking ../lazarus..
Compile IDE (without linking) completed
Cannot find /usr/bin lmysqlclient
make[2]: *** [lazarus]Error 1

Also because this produces a bad build..unless I Remove mysql4laz.lpk
and Rebuild IDE before I quit the IDE there is a serious
issue..Lazarus will no longer start and I must delete the install and
reinstall the entire IDE package

I also tried the rebuild with the mysql 4 client running ?? didn't
change the results..in the event the code was checking for a running
client.
