Problem installing Lazarus on Fedora 5 lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dhjdhj · 2006-04-06 20:40 I have a brand new HP Proliant server on which I installed Fedora Core 5 last week. I used YUM to install the latest version of fpc (2.0.2), including source at that time. I just tried to install lazarus and the RPM app is saying: error: Failed dependencies:         fpc = 2.0.2-0 is needed by lazarus-0.9.14-1.i386         fpc-src = 2.0.2-0 is needed by lazarus-0.9.14-1.i386         gdk-pixbuf-devel is needed by lazarus-0.9.14-1.i386         gtk+-devel is needed by lazarus-0.9.14-1.i386 Since fpc is officially installed, I have no idea how to deal with this problem - any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, David Jameson ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2006-05-19 01:06 You need to install the missing packages. You can use apt-get (if I remember well) to install those packages. Google for "apt-get tutorial". Also you may want to contact other users of Fedora. They can help you learn how to use dependency solving tools. A place where you can find Fedora users is LinuxQuestions website. google to find it. You can also download loose packages. To do this google for "rpm search" without the quotes and enter one of the rpm searching websites. Be sure to download packages for Fedora Core 5 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- matthijs · 2006-05-19 18:51 Download fpc and fpc-src rpm's from lazarus snapshotsite and install them. Then do:Code: [Select]yum install gdk-pixbuf-devel as root and then try to install Lazarus again. I know for sure it will install then without problem. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2006-06-16 20:57 Quote from: "dhjdhj" error: Failed dependencies:         fpc = 2.0.2-0 is needed by lazarus-0.9.14-1.i386         fpc-src = 2.0.2-0 is needed by lazarus-0.9.14-1.i386         gdk-pixbuf-devel is needed by lazarus-0.9.14-1.i386         gtk+-devel is needed by lazarus-0.9.14-1.i386 I get the exact same messages. You have enlightened me! THANX ---------------------------------------------------------------------- pcwright · 2006-08-16 21:07 OK! I have Lazarus 9.16 installed on FC5 and it opens. Then I create a test, button on form toggles form color. Click Run and I get an error message, Can't find unit glib. Any suggestions? Phil
