Lazarus under SuSE 10.0

Hi,

after fighting with the SuSE installation on my Laptop i thought I
cracked it; BUT: Console programs in Lazarus compile and can be
started from a terminal, but not from within the IDE. Applications
using GUI elements don't do anything but crash the IDE. At least it
does more than my Kylix which has become b---y useless under this
distro.

Thank you for any suggestions where to look.

Did you install all pre-requisite packages like gtk-pixbuf and others?

Also, try to change your Gtk 1 Theme. I don´t know how to do that, but
googling should reveil it.

Isn't gtk for GUI applications? I cannot even run console apps from
Lazarus. I followed as best I could all suggestions in another post
(gtk-devel etc,).

Thank's for the link. I would like to stick with Lazarus/FPC,
though...
