Hi

how much of the code of other applications can Lazarus use. I am
thinking about apps like Open Office.

You manipulate OO via its UNO interface. OO has bindings for C++ and
Java and (Windows only) Automation. Why don't you develop Pascal
bindings and contribute them to the Lazarus project?
