lazarus 0.9.12 on ubuntu/x86_64-'invalid floating point op'

Hi all.

I've been gritting my teeth over this one for a while now, lol. I'm
running Ubuntu (debian) 5.10 on an AMD 64 processor, and trying to
compile http://higgs.co.za/linbmd.html (linBMD). So, I've compiled and
installed, from source, fpc 2.0.2 (package name:
fpc-2.0.2.x86_64-linux), as well as lazarus 0.9.12 (package name:
lazarus-0.9.12-0 -- I've also tried the 10th Feb. snapshot with no
success).

My problem is that I keep getting floating-point errors whenever I
open a window - my first step was to try & open the Environment
Options window, to sort out the fpcsrc thing - "invalid floating point
operation - ignore or shut down" was the essence of the message I
received. Then I tried compiling linBMD - it did (yay), but then on
run, it spat out the same error (sulk).

I thought it could be a problem with the compiler (due to it affecting
lazarus as well) - but the problem seems to be in a Lazarus include.
Anyway - does anyone have any further ideas? Because I *really* want
to get this program built, lol.

Hrm. Well, the code is:-

So if I change it to (say):

I wonder if that'll solve the problem? Or something similar?

I've the same problem here, on my Ubuntu 5.10 AMD64 box.

I've tried all combinations between FPC 2.0.2 and the newest FPC SVN
with Lazarus 0.9.12 and the newest Lazarus SVN with different build
options.

FPC: make all PP=ppcx64 && sudo make install PP=ppcx64
Lazarus : make PP=ppcx64, make PP=ppcx64 LCL_PLATFORM=gtk2, make
PP=ppcx64 LCL_PLATFORM=gnome

But in every case, there is the same following error message:

This bug afaict is only present on fpc 2.0.2 (64 bit version only). A
recent fpc 2.0.3 or 2.1.1 (both are versions from svn) will not have
this bug. However there is another bug right now in fpc svn that will
not allow lazarus to compile (fpc bug# 4789)

I'd say try fpc 2.0.0 if that doesn't work you're sunk untill that bug
is fixed.

I've installed FPC 2.0.0 (64 bit version), checked out Lazarus
revision 8731, but didn't work.
