ubuntu libglib version... lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Carlos · 2006-02-07 23:25 Hi, I've installed Lazarus in Ubuntu 5.10, but when I try to launch it can't find the libglib 1.2. Ubuntu has the libglib 2.0 installed, I've created links to the 2.0 version libs but it doesn't works. Do I have to install the 1.2 version libraries? Have somebody installed Lazarus in Ubuntu 5.10? I'm very new to Linux so probably I'm doing something wrong... Thanks! (and sorry for my english, I'm Spanish) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mikiwoz · 2006-02-07 23:47 Hi there I have Laz installed on Kubuntu 5.10, it's basically the same system, so I think I can help you. Here's what you do (in console): as libglib1.2 and libglib2.0 are separate packages, check whether you have the first one installed: Code: [Select]sudo dpkg -s libglib1.2 | grep Status if it says: Status: install ok installed then I don't know, what might be the problem. but I bet, it'll say that it isn't installed. If so, let's get it installed: Code: [Select]sudo apt-get install libglib1.2 wait until this command terminates, and you're done. Now you should be able to start Laz without problems. If the problem persists, try removing and installing Lazarus again. Should you still have any problems - give a hint. Cheers mike P.S. I suppose you know how to open konsole - if not, here's where it is: KMenu -> System -> Terminal Program (Konsole) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Carlos · 2006-02-09 08:38 Thanks for your answer. I've used the Synaptic package manager to install the gtk and glib 1.2 and now Lazarus starts ok. Now I have problems trying to compile, but I've not tested it a lot... if I can't solve the problems I'll post here again
