Lazarus 0.9.10 on (K)Ubuntu 5.10 -> mini-Howto lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mikiwoz · 2005-11-07 09:29 Yep, I have succeeded in making Laz work on Breezy, and for all those Breezers out there, here's how I managed to do this: (this was tested on Kubuntu 5.10, but should work as well on Ubuntu 5.10; I suppose it should also work on Hoarys) 1. alien first, let's make ourselves a dir for the rpms: Code: [Select]cd ~ mkdir lazarus now, let's download the needed files, with your favourite dl manager the files are: Code: [Select]fpc-2.0.1-050923.i386.rpm fpcsrc-2.0.1-050923.i386.rpm lazarus-0.9.10-0.i386.rpm be sure to have all the other required packages installed, here's the list (thx to sekel): http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtop ic&t=1492 (just drop the rpmlib ones). ok, so we have the rpms. what now? alien them! Code: [Select]alien fpc-2.0.1-050923.i386.rpm alien fpcsrc-2.0.1-050923.i386.rpm alien lazarus-0.9.10-0.i386.rpm (be patient, it'll take a while; and yes, I don't like alien too, but this time it actually works) after aliening, we should have three cute debs in our directory. let's install them, then! Code: [Select]dpkg -i fpc_2.0.1-50924_i386.deb dpkg -i fpcsrc_2.0.1-50924_i386.deb dpkg -i lazarus_0.9.10-1_i386.ded smashing. so that's where everybody got. nothing special here. now's the time to make it actually work. (of course, you can now delete the lazarus directory with all the files - but be catious, as if something goes wrong, you will have to dl those 60MB again ) 2. paths yep, the whole problem is with paths. happily I had my ~/.lazarus dir backed up from my old Mdk install... that gave me a hint. step one: Environment -> Environment Options -> Files Lazarus Directory: /usr/lib/lazarus/ Compiler Path: /usr/bin/ppc386 FPC Source Directory: /usr/share/fpcsrc/ step two: Project -> Compiler Options -> Paths Other Unit Files: /usr/lib/fpc/$fpcversion/units/$fpctarget/;/usr/lib/fpc/$fpcversion/un its/$fpctarget/*/;/usr/lib/fpc/$fpcversion/units/$fpctarget/rtl/;$(Laz arusDir)/lcl/ (thx to j list, thread: http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php?na me=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=1490) Include Files: $(LazarusDir)/lcl/include/ Other Sources: $(LazarusDir)/lcl/;$(LazarusDir)/lcl/interfaces/$(LCLWidgetType)/ Unit Output Directory: some user-writeable dir ...and that's all folks. hth. cheers mike ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2005-11-07 10:45 Maybe you can add  this to the wiki or merge it with an existing paragraph for debian found here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- berghem · 2005-11-07 15:22 I have Ubuntu 5.10, but i can't use Lazarus because when I compile my source Lazarus answer me "Can't find unit interfaces". I follow howto's mikiwoz but i have this error Why Please sorry for my english ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2005-11-07 15:28 Because you are using a different compiler than the one lazarus and the LCL (unit interfaces) is compiled with. Guess: this fpc rpm is not the first one you installed on your system. See also this FAQ. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- fab25 · 2005-11-14 05:04 Well this looks like killing a bug with a nuke. If you had specifiedQuote alien -c for the export, then the path is already set and there's no need to configure whatsoever after the install  At least it works at my place. The only stuff I have left is UTF-8 for which lazarus complaints but other than that everything works perfectly. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mikiwoz · 2005-11-14 16:10 thanks, I'm new to apt-based distros, didn't know that ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2005-11-20 18:12 it just don't work. debs are not usable ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mikiwoz · 2005-11-21 10:21 What doesn't work and what are the error messages? On what system? Which files have you downloaded? Man, we're not fortune-tellers here, we need some information. Cheers mike
