Problem compiling lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- shandar · 2005-10-24 21:06 Well, this has probably been asked over and over before but I really can't find a solution for it. I'm running Ubuntu 5.10 and decided to try Lazarus. I downloaded the RPMs (fpc, fpc-source and lazarus) and converted them to deb's using 'alien', then installed them. Lazarus starts without any errors but when I try to compile an application I get a message about not being able to find the unit interfaces or sometimes the glib unit. I read a bit and and found out that I need to rebuild Lazarus and try to do so, which results in an error: make: ../../units/gtk2 Error 1. Nothing more (I'm trying to build it with gtk2, but it doesn't matter what I chose, it still quits with the same error). What is going on? Lazarus and Freepascal seems like a really good substitute for Delphi or Kylix so I'd like to get it working... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2005-10-25 00:09 Alienated packages forget their dependencies ... this is probably a dependency issue. Do you have gtk-pixbuf, gtk+-devel, etc installed?? Does anyone have a complete list of dependencies? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- shandar · 2005-10-25 08:57 I have installed them now, no good. I also downloaded the gtk, gtk2 & gnome .deb packages from freepascal.org and copied the included units (which includes glib afaik) to lazarus' units folder. Didn't help at all and for some reason the normal 'fp' to bring up the old freepascal "ide" doesn't work either... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2005-10-25 10:41 This may not be a dependency issue, but here is a dependency list: [felipe@Lapa Pacotes]$ rpm -qRp lazarus-0.9.10-0.i386.rpm /bin/bash /bin/sh /usr/bin/env desktop-file-utils desktop-file-utils fpc = 2.0.1-050923 fpcsrc = 2.0.1-050923 gdb gdk-pixbuf gdk-pixbuf-devel glibc-devel gtk+ gtk+-devel libX11.so.6 libXext.so.6 libXi.so.6 libc.so.6 libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.0) libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.1) libdl.so.2 libdl.so.2(GLIBC_2.0) libdl.so.2(GLIBC_2.1) libgdk-1.2.so.0 libgdk_pixbuf.so.2 libglib-1.2.so.0 libgtk-1.2.so.0 libm.so.6 rpmlib(CompressedFileNames) <= 3.0.4-1 rpmlib(PayloadFilesHavePrefix) <= 4.0-1 [felipe@Lapa Pacotes]$ rpm -qRp fpc-2.0.1-050923.i386.rpm /bin/sh /bin/sh binutils glibc rpmlib(CompressedFileNames) <= 3.0.4-1 rpmlib(PayloadFilesHavePrefix) <= 4.0-1 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2005-10-25 10:45 Just to make sure you got the correct source package, its name is fpcsrc-2.0.1-050923.i386.rpm and not fpc-2.0.1...src.rpm ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2005-10-26 20:07 Hm. I'm not sure, but it seems like Lazarus / the FCC compiler is looking in the wrong directory for the units. Anyone who knows if it is possible to list the locations the compiler looks for the units? The reason for this is that I've copied all the units the compiler is complaining about (Interfaces, glib, gdk-pixbuf etc) to the lazarus units directory but I still get the same error, Unit '...' not found. I've also tried to copy them to the FPC units directory but without any luck... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2005-10-26 20:08 Edit: The FPC compiler of course, not the FCC :-) /shandar ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2005-10-27 06:14 What exact error? IMHO it is better to start over again, because manually copied units will keep giving you trouble. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2006-01-31 22:04 The thread's a bit old but you may not be the last to hit this issue. I just sent a test lazarus program to a friend , it worked fine on his suse-10 on my gentoo and my suse9 but he said it failed on Ubuntu with missing libglib Quote error while loading shared libraries: libglib-1.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory looks like Ubuntu have not quite worked out that you need to symlink minor lib versions. (In fact Ubuntu is an african name for a juvenile penguin) check what libglib version you do have and try adding the link most distros will have :  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 2006-01-26 21:28 /usr/lib/libglib.so -> libglib-1.2.so.0.0.10 [man ln ]
