Lazarus for *BSD lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2005-10-12 08:12 Hi all, I succesfully installed Lazarus on Linux SUSE 9.2 some times ago but now i'm planning to support *BSD systems, I was thinking to build my developing environment on a DesktopBSD system (based strictly on latest FreeBSD-STABLE) due to the userfriendlyness of this system. The issue is: could I use Lazarus on it? Should I compile Lazarus from sources to make it work? There is a simpler way? Someone has managed this before on FreeBSD (or DesktopBSD) and can hint me? Thank you all for the support.  Giorgio ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Marc · 2005-10-12 08:33 FPC runs on FreeBSD, and afaik lazarus also. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2005-10-12 13:07 "FPC runs on FreeBSD, and afaik lazarus also." I know, I see FPC for *BSD on the FPC main site and I see compile for *BSD targhet(s) in Lazarus menus However, following the links on this site I see packages for quickly install Lazarus under Linux and Windows but not for *BSD, so I guess I have to download sources and coplie everything? Or someone pached it for *BSDs making the whole thing no more painful than building a developement enviromnet based on Lazarus on Windows and Linux? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Marc · 2005-10-12 16:14 Cant think of bsd specific parts in Lazarus, so I guess it should compile without problem. No need to patch ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ddelfino · 2005-11-02 18:26 I've successfully compiled and used Lazarus a while ago on FreeBSD with no problem. The only requirement is that you have all the development gtk libraries installed. Once you have installed FPC it's easy to compile lazarus, just check out the sources from the svn and type make all in the Lazarus directory. If you should have problems we are here to help. Next month I'm planning to buy a new pc and install freeBSD on it, so there would be another user. Ciao, Dean ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Giuseppe Ridinò · 2005-11-03 08:26 Have you guys considered the PC-BSD project (freebsd+kde) and its PBI's packages? It will be interesting to have a PBI package to easily install Lazarus on PC-BSD. I was thinking to try to do it, but have 0 (zero) free time to do it.   ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2006-02-03 11:06 Quote from: "pepecito" Have you guys considered the PC-BSD project (freebsd+kde) and its PBIsomeone has already done it ! http://www.pbidir.com/packages.php?code=162 but... didnt work 100% for me, becuase I needed GLib12 for it to work, but PCBSD already had a newer version. and it didnt update it for me.. so lazarus didnt work would be great if that PBI can be updated for the latest PCBSD. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Giuseppe Ridinò · 2006-02-06 10:11 I tryed the PBI, and got the same problem! Still need some fix. BTW, it looks very interesting since PCBSD is having more and more fans! ;-) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2006-02-07 17:59 Is it possibe to use Indy libraries for FreeBSD too? I want to implement an IRC server and Indy has some specific libraries for that.
