Ubuntu lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Edu · 2005-06-27 21:53 Hello, Does anybody know how to install Lazarus in Ubuntu 5.04? I followed the 'Simple Lazarus Installation in Debian' (Wiki). Installation went well but Lazarus will not start. Thanks, Edu ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2005-06-29 02:31 I installed Free Pascal 2.0 with the .deb packages, then built Lazarus from source, it compiled and linked fine after I installed the missing dependencies. It then ran ok, and I was able to compile a default application, then I added a button double clicked it and it complained of not being able to find lclclasses.pp.   The same thing happend for all controls put on the form. I gave up after a few hours of hacking around :-) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Marc · 2005-06-29 08:42 have you set the lazarus source dir in the environment options ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kimx · 2005-06-29 20:40 I also just installed lazarus on ubuntu, I used the .deb files from this page to install fpc, and then I got Lazarus using cvs and the fpc sources usin subversion(you can also get it here http://www.freepascal.org/download-australia.html), and it works like a charm. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Galileo · 2005-06-30 15:30 kimx: Do you look all the fonts well? I'm currently using Mandrake 10.1 and looks very well, but when i try Ubuntu i can't see the ide. May be the spanish caracters, but in Mandrake go fine. This is an example that show how it looks: http://ar.geocities.com/dar_alle/lazarus_ubuntu.png Anyone have any idea? Thx. Eduardo. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2005-06-30 16:06 My screenshot is very similar but I don't have the lack of fonts and text if that is what you mean. http://home20.inet.tele.dk/kimx/billede.png ---------------------------------------------------------------------- magikfingerz · 2005-06-30 17:42 Mmhh, I use the method mentioned in the Wiki too and lazarus works happily and flawlessly (I use MEPIS distribution based on Debian). BTW, Do you correct the /etc/fpc.cfg file to ensure the paths are correct...?   On the other hand, maybe you could consider an alternate method, download the Autoinstall package lazarus-installer-pack.run from: http://monsterous.sourceforge.net/lazarus/   You only need to run the package and follow instructions, is very easy and maybe could work in your GNU/Linux distribution...   Happy programming!! I think that with this font too big the strings translated look so bad. I believe that is an issue in Ubuntu, because in MDK10.1 is working fine (in spanish language). Anyone know how to set GTK 1.x to display a smaller font (like Mdk)? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kimx · 2005-07-02 19:33 I've managed to change the gtk1 theme by using the tool gtk-theme- switch, which works after you have linked .gtkrc-1.2-gnome2 to the file .gtkrc, then you can use this tool to change the fonts and themes, just take a look at my screenshot once again, but ubuntu seems to be ignoring the changes to the font. EDIT: I've found this page which might help http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-4290.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2005-07-09 20:37 Hi there, I am still having problems trying to install Lazarus in Ubuntu 5.04. I installed all the Debian packages of Free Pascal 2.0. When I 'make' lazarus-0.9.7-20050707-src it ends with: Linking ./lazarus /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lglib lazarus.pp(98,1) Error: Error while linking make[1]: *** [lazarus] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/edu/lazarus' make: *** [ide] Error 2 Does anybody know what's wrong? Thanks, Edu ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kimx · 2005-07-09 20:47 you need to install some libs, try searching after glib in synaptic ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2005-07-09 21:42 Thanks for your quick reply. All packages containing the word 'glib' were already installed, so that's not it. Edu ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kimx · 2005-07-10 09:05 Then it sounds a bit odd, I would have thought the the libglib1.2-dev or libglib2.0-dev would have done the trick. I have now googled a bit and it seems that this error come when you are missing dome gtk libs, so you could also try to install libgtk1.2-dev. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2005-07-14 19:35 I have the same problem and that worked. You also need to install: Quote libgdk-pixbuf-dev and Enable: Quote -Fl/lib;/usr/lib in the /etc/fpc.cfg Flo ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Flo · 2005-07-14 20:08 Make all work, but Make install cause that: Quote from: "sudo make install INSTALL-PREFIX=/usr/local" Target OS: Linux for i386 Compiling allsyneditunits.pp 102 Lines compiled, 0.8 sec /usr/bin/fpcmake -p -Tlinux Makefile.fpc Processing Makefile.fpc Error: Target "linux", package "rtl" not found make[2]: *** [fpc_install] Fehler 1 make[2]: Verlasse Verzeichnis »/home/flo/lazarus/components/synedit« make[1]: *** [synedit_install] Fehler 2 make[1]: Verlasse Verzeichnis »/home/flo/lazarus/components« make: *** [components_install] Fehler 2 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Marc · 2005-07-15 09:19 you cannot install lazarus atm. Running from the source dir works.
