Lazarus 0.9.7 RPM. lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcosmodolo · 2005-06-07 18:18 Hello,    Do exist some package RPM for lazarus 0.9.7? Tks, Marcos Módolo ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2005-06-07 18:34 No. See for reasons this mail from the mailing list. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2005-08-23 13:11 Now, there are rpms for lazarus 0.9.9. Stil fresh and untested, so let me know if you got any problems with them (prefereably by using the mailing list. Install fpc-2.1.1-*.i586.rpm, fpc-src-2.1.1-*.i586.rpm and lazarus-0.9.9-*.i586.rpm from the snapshot server. BTW. this page is getting a bit crowded, so if anybody want to design a new page, go ahead. ;-) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2005-08-23 14:32 Quote from: "Vincent"Now, there are rpms for lazarus 0.9.9. I have removed: fpc-2.0.0-0.i586.rpm fpcsrc-2.0.0-0.i386.rpm lazarus-0.9.8-fpc_2.0.0_0.i386.rpm Installed: fpc-2.1.1-20050823.i586.rpm pc-src-2.1.1-20050823.i586.rpm lazarus-0.9.9-20050823.i586.rpm Lazarus instals to /usr/lib/lazarus/ but  it does not start - Segmentation fault ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2005-08-23 14:41 If you start in a console, do you get any messages? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2005-08-23 15:29 Quote from: "Vincent"If you start in a console, do you get any messages? Form a console as root – no messages. The Lazarus binary appeared to be very small in comparison to one which I have compiled from the tar in user space, I have copied the lager lazarus binary to the /usr/lib/lazarus directory and it works.  I have installed some packages as root it works, I had to change the permissions of :/usr/lib/lazarus/components  directory so users can write to it. The next problem is that my existing project dose not want to start properly and crashes lazarus .  Maybe the path differences??? TPkgManager.LoadInstalledPackage PackageName="RunTimeTypeInfoControls" [FORMS.PP] ExceptionOccurred   Sender=EAccessViolation   Exception=Access violation   Stack trace:   $00000000 TApplication.HandleException Access violation   Stack trace:   $00000000 [FORMS.PP] ExceptionOccurred Note: GetTextBuf is overridden for: [FORMS.PP] ExceptionOccurred [FORMS.PP] ExceptionOccurred Lazarus  looks very good and getting better and better .. thanks for all the hard work.. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2005-08-23 15:53 The next problem is that my existing project dose not want to start properly and crashes lazarus .  Maybe the path differences??? More problems: I have created a new project. The components on the form started behaving strange. If I want to focus on them with mouse they accelerate and try to avoid the mouse pointer  some are disappearing completely from the form. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2005-08-25 11:08 The supplied lazarus executable is corrupt. It turns out that fpc incorrectly links the executable on certain linux platforms. I submitted a bug report. Until it has been fixed, I cannot create correct rpms. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2005-08-25 14:45 Quote from: "Vincent"The supplied lazarus executable is corrupt. It turns out that fpc incorrectly links the executable on certain linux platforms. I submitted a bug report. Until it has been fixed, I cannot create correct rpms. Thanks Vincent. Does it effect any application created with Lazarus or just Lazarus binary?  How about the other thing I have mentioned about the strange components behaving in designing time.  The version of lazarus-0.9.9-20050822-src did not have that problem even if compiled against  fpc-2.1.1-20050823 The problem surface from  20050823.  If I want to move for example a button with mouse pointer the button moves much further then it should and sometimes goes away from the view.  It is like the components are trying to avoid to be adjusted and are escaping. ( Mandriva LE 2005) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2005-08-25 19:58 It effects every application created with lazarus, unless they are completely statically linked, but the issue is on all computer running linux. As you seemed to be able to build lazarus from the source rpm, your computer is not affected. The button issue is something different. If you think it is a bug, report it in the lazarus bug tracker ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2005-08-27 19:35 A workaround for the problem with the corrupt lazarus executable has been committed into the freepascal svn. I think todays lazarus rpms can be installed and run. Please test them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2005-09-13 15:13 Quote from: "Vincent" I think todays lazarus rpms can be installed and run. Sorry for the delay! - Lazarus Dialog “Form Editor in Environment options the  "Grabber Color" overlaps another check box. - When the installation of a component fails then it is impossible to start Lazarus again. The Lazarus binary is deleted and the new Lazarus binary is not created due to a linker error. It would be nice to make automatically a backup of the last functioning Lazarus binary before  compilation into the Lazarus  any new package and recover the latest  binary if for same reasons the compilation or linking fails and the new Lazarus binary is not created. I am using now lazarus-0.9.9-20050912.i586.rpm fpc-src-2.1.1-20050912.i586.rpm fpc-2.1.1-20050912.i586.rpm Looks and works great !
