Install Lazarus on Mandrake 10.1 lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jirka · 2005-01-07 05:43 I managed to install and compile Lazarus on Mandrake 10.1 official DVD My order : 1) Install kernel-source-2.6-2.6.8.1-12mdk from DVD 2) Downolad files from http://rpmfind.net/ libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0-devel-2.4.9-9mdk libgdk-pixbuf-xlib2-0.22.0-5mdk libgdk-pixbuf2-devel-0.22.0-5mdk and install # rpm -i --nodeps libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0-devel-2.4.9-9mdk # rpm -i --nodeps libgdk-pixbuf-xlib2-0.22.0-5mdk # rpm -i --nodeps libgdk-pixbuf2-devel-0.22.0-5mdk 3) Create symbolic links  linux:/usr/lib # ln -s libgdk-1.2.so.0.9.1 libgdk.so  linux:/usr/lib # ln -s libgtk-1.2.so.0.9.1 libgtk.so  linux:/usr/lib # ln -s libglib-1.2.so.0.0.10 libglib.so  linux:/usr/lib # /sbin/ldconfig  linux:/usr/X11R6/lib/ # ln -s libX11.so.6 libX11.so  linux:/usr/X11R6/lib/ # ln -s libXi.so.6 libXi.so  linux:/usr/X11R6/lib/ # ln -s libXext.so.6 libXext.so and compile Lazarus Jirka Smolik ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mikiwoz · 2005-01-07 09:21 Thanks a lot! The above procedure (without installing the kernel sources and installing Lazarus from rpm) works fine also on Mdk10.0. Heck, it saved me from re-installation of Mandrake! Thanks, Jirka! Cheers Mike ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Edwin · 2005-02-19 21:09 Thanks, this really helped me! This should be a sticky! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- amiso · 2005-07-10 17:11 Hi, I have written a procedure for installing Free Pascal Compiler / Lazarus on Mandrake 10.0 Official using the TAR files available on the official site. You will find this procedure on my site at: http://alain.jdhosts.net/procedures/InstallLazarus.html Although it seems to be "low level" I have put some effort in having it very accurate. I have also used this procedure on many computers. Sincelely Alain Michaud amiso Ottawa, Ontario ---------------------------------------------------------------------- amiso · 2005-08-03 01:59 TStatictext --> TLabel Those who want to upgrade to FPC 2.0.0, Lazarus 0.9.8 should know the following: I have just upgraded from: Lazarus 0.9.4 FPC 1.9.6 Mandrake Linux 10.1 kernel 2.6.8.1 to: Lazarus 0.9.8 FPC 2.0.0 Mandrake Linux 2005 limited edition (10.2) kernel 2.6.11.6 I have a medium size aplication  that I was wooried would not compile anymore! Well...  Everything went OK except for one thing: They have improved the "TLabel" object. It now suports different fonts, font size, color, etc... Therefore they have removed the "TStatictext" ! If you are in a similar situation as this one, I suggest that you REMOVE ALL the TStatictext object that you have in your application BEFORE you install the new version. This way, the project code will load in the new IDE.  The easiest is to change ALL: TStatictext --> TLabel and then when in the new IDE you will change the properties like Font, Size, color, etc... If you keep just one TStatictext in your project, then lazarus will just crash. and prevent you from changing the code. Sincerely Alain Michaud amiso
