Installing Lazarus 0.9.4 for fpc 1.9.6 lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- matthijs · 2005-01-04 15:56 I've currently installed lazarus 0.9.2.4 and fpc 1.9.5 Can I savely "rpm -Uvh" the new version, or should I first remove the old version? In both cases the install of fpc 1.9.5 seems to take forever. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Lightning · 2005-01-04 22:17 You have to install 1.9.6 not 1.9.5, i guess updating should work. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- matthijs · 2005-01-05 16:50 Well that's what I meant to say. The install of epc 1.9.6 takes ages. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- matthijs · 2005-01-05 19:21 Did the install with -Uhvv so I could see what was happening. Everything worked out all right. So I can go on with me article. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Bendito · 2005-01-06 00:26 I run Slackware so I don't deal with rpm's. I usually install from source. This is how I installed fpc 1.9.6 and lazarus 0.9.4: 1) Went here and downloaded the following file: ftp://ftp.freepascal.org/pub/fpc/beta/i386-linux-1.9.6/fpc-1.9.6.i386- linux.tar 2) Unpacked the above file. Then entered the command "sh install.sh" as superuser. Installed in /usr/local. 3) Downloaded the latest lazarus from sourceforge (I notice that you can get fpc 1.9.6 from here as well) 4) unpacked the downloaded file and ran "make clean all" at the command line as a regular user. 5) Ran lazarus, made sure to point to the source code of fpc (which for me is in /usr/local/share/src/fpc-1.9.6/ and that's it.
