Cannot compile FPC 1.9.5 lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Rookie_One · 2004-12-12 14:24 Hi, I'm trying to get Lazarus working. As the binaries are in RPM format only and I'm using Slackware, which has no RPM support, I wanted to compile it, but it turned out that my FPC is too old. I downloaded FPC 1.9.5, read the README carefully and tried to compile it: Code: [Select]root@spearhead:/work/fpc/compiler# make COMPILER_OPTIONS="GDB;I386" /usr/bin/mkdir -p i386/units/i386-linux /usr/bin/ppc386   -dUNIX -di386 -dGDB -dBROWSERLOG -Fux86 GDB;I386 -Fui386 -Fusystems -Fu../rtl -Fii386 -FE. -FUi386/units/i386-linux pp.pas Free Pascal Compiler version 1.0.10 [2003/06/26] for i386 Copyright (c) 1993-2003 by Florian Klaempfl Target OS: Linux for i386 Compiling GDB Fatal: Can't open file GDB /bin/sh: line 1: I386: command not found make: *** [ppc386] Error 127 root@spearhead:/work/fpc/compiler# WTF? I tried just plain make: Code: [Select]root@spearhead:/work/fpc/compiler# make /usr/bin/ppc386   -dUNIX -di386 -dGDB -dBROWSERLOG -Fux86 -Fui386 -Fusystems -Fu../rtl -Fii386 -FE. -FUi386/units/i386-linux pp.pas Free Pascal Compiler version 1.0.10 [2003/06/26] for i386 Copyright (c) 1993-2003 by Florian Klaempfl Target OS: Linux for i386 Compiling pp.pas Compiling catch.pas catch.pas(48,13) Fatal: Can't find unit BASEUNIX make: *** [ppc386] Error 1 root@spearhead:/work/fpc/compiler# WTF is going on? Could someone tell me which parameters should I use? I've already got FPC 1.0.10. TIA, Rookie One ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2004-12-12 20:14 Try Code: [Select]make all make install in the fpc directory. For the full story see the FPC Build FAQ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Rookie_One · 2004-12-12 20:52 Yay, it works!!! Thanks so much! I wonder how come I haven't come across this FAQ already... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2004-12-12 20:57 Once you've untarred the .tgz archive, you only need to copy the makepack file in the install directory to the parent directory and run ./makepack. Although saying that the latest snapshot doesn't seem to want to compile on Slackware for me so I'm using fpc 1.9.5-20041129 and lazarus 0.9.2.3. I think it must be something peculiar in my system setup though as some snapshots work whilst others don't, and it's not limited to those from Free Pascal and Lazarus. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Rookie One · 2004-12-13 16:18 Damn, I forgot my password... Anyway, I've just created a Slackware package of FPC 1.9.5 04120! I'll try to submit it to Linuxpackages.net. How about me being the Slackware package mantainer? There are RPMs only at the moment... And why the hell don't they say ncurses is needed to compile this???
