gdk-pixbuf-devel problem lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mikiwoz · 2004-12-01 09:55 Hi there Recently I moved from Mdk 10.0 to 10.1 and that was a huge mistake. Now half of apps I've ben used to be using does not work. With Lazarus included. :/ fpc and fpcsrc both install fine, but... When installing Lazarus rpm, I get the following error: Quote Some of the packets requested cannot be installed: lazarus-0.9.2.3-fpc_1.9.5_041129.i386 (due to unsatisfied gdk-pixbuf- devel[>= 0.18.0]) Ok, so I have downloaded gdk-pixbuf2-devel-0.22.0, and again, I got errors: Quote Some of the packets requested cannot be installed: libgdk-pixbuf2-devel-0.22.0-2mdk.i586 (due to unsatisfied devel(libICE)) Well, I tried to find libice - and I failed. I cannot find it on any rpm search engine. WTF?! Can someone please tell me what should I install to satisfy this dependancy?.. TIA Mike ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Marc · 2004-12-01 16:02 I can't find the libgdk_pixbuf rpm you are reffering to, but have a look here http://www.rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=libgdk_pixbuf&s ubmit=Search+... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Lightning · 2004-12-02 00:02 CHECK all the devel packages you think are related, look for in your pack list, it must be there. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mikiwoz · 2004-12-02 21:20 QuoteGConf2-2.6.4-2mdk.i586 (z powodu brakuj?cego libgdk-x11-2.0.so.0, z powodu brakuj?cego libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0, z powodu brakuj?cego libgconf-2.so.4, z powodu niesatysfakcjonuj?cego pakietu libGConf2_4 == 2.6.4-2mdk) [blah blah blah - somewhat about 50 such messages] libgnome-keyring.so.0, z powodu brakuj?cego libgnomevfs-2.so.0, z powodu brakuj?cego libgnome-2.so.0, z powodu niesatysfakcjonuj?cego pakietu libgnome2 >= 2.0.2) this is what I get trying to install libgdk_pixbuf2.0_0-2.4.9-9mdk.i586.rpm. I know, it is in Polish, but I think it doesn't need a translation :/ Basically, the above packages need to be removed in order to install it. IMHO - that's just a little too much... and... QuoteCannot install: libgdk_pixbuf2.0_0-devel-2.4.9-9mdk.i586 (due to unsatisfied devel(libgmodule-2.0)) I suppose that would be gone if I had the previous one installed correctly... Anyway, I think I have to get back to Mdk 10.0 (where everything worked just fine...). P.S. Sorry, guys, for the loooong quote. Yep, that was my mistake, I apologise. Solved, won't happen again. Scout's promise ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Lightning · 2004-12-02 21:44 mikiwoz please reduce the size of that output since nobody has the time to read all that, i was thinking to check when you install and check all those needed packs sice they usually install dependecies too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mikiwoz · 2004-12-02 23:16 Well, sorry for the size of it, but I just wanted to give you some idea of what a mess will proceeding with installation of ...pixbuf... do to my system. It just is NOT a good idea to agree to uninstalation of those packages just to have pixbuf installed, since I will have to re-install all of them again after pixbuf is installed. What's the point?.. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Lightning · 2004-12-03 09:30 I didn't mean you should uninstall them, i meant install everything !!! Your installation must be buggy, i got it up and running in no time (MDK 10) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2004-12-03 10:26 This is possible, nevertheless I started to dislike the 10.1 version. I'll get back to 10.0, which I know works fine. Cheers mikiwoz ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mikiwoz · 2005-01-06 22:51 I'm starting to get a little anoyed here, guys. I formatted my HD, installed Mdk10.0 (Laz used to install straight- from-the-box on it!) and... got "gdk-pixbuf-devel" problem again. Did the deps change recently (e.g. from version 0.9.2)? Because: When I try to install lazarus (latest) I get an unsatisfied dep: gdk-pixbuf-devel >= 0.18.0. When I try to install libgdk-pixbuf2-devel-0.22.0-5mdk.i586.rpm I get a HELL of other deps... I installed libgdk_pixbuf2.0_0-2.4.9-9mdk.i586.rpm and libgdk_pixbuf2.0_0-devel-2.4.9-9mdk.i586.rpm (and a lot of their deps), but it didn't give me anything. Something is really wrong and I don't know what. :/  So again - how come Laz 0.9.2 worked fine and the newest one I am not even able to install? WTF?! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mikiwoz · 2005-01-06 23:08 Ok, I'll try once more tomorrow. What I will do is: 1. Reinstall Mandrake 10.0 from scratch 2. Do a complete system update -> this might be the thing I missed 3. (Hopefully) install Lazarus. If that doesn't work - I don't know what will. You'll have to give me some help here. === UPDATE ================================================================ I did not re-install Mdk. The solution was different and can be found at http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=view topic&p=2944#2944 Cheers Mike
