No keyboard

I installed Lazarus 0.9.2 .1 on Fedora Core 2 and just work fine. I
even run a simple form with some buttons, but i cannot write text in
the code editor. I saw similar messages about this problem but in my
case i simple don't have any key working, even the cursor keys.
The keyboard works fine with others applications.

Do you see text in the editor ?
what LANG environment setting do you have ?
What keyboard do you have ?

i see text in the editor and i set english as language environment.
the keyboard is portuguese.
i don't need to have the special characters, ç ã, etc, working, i just
need to type the basic chars.

the cursor keys works (my mistake)
