I would say try to get good in expressing visual information using
only two shades. If you look at this, all of this art only uses 2
values with no soft transitions.

I imagine you'd have to be a very good manga artist to start with, and
then learn a ton about lighting and anatomy, and also learn how to use
calligraphy brushes
