Any reasons not to? Gonna be dual booting Arch and Windows, and doing some light to moderate gaming. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2015-11-19 09:03 >Any reasons not to? yes nvidia offers no free drivers so you should avoid them like the plague. you should also avoid windows and install a fsf approved GNU/Linux distribution. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2015-11-19 16:15 Why nvidia? Are you doing cuda stuff? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2015-11-19 17:25 >>14012 I need a tough laptop that can run csgo and skyrim for like $300. The fact that it can support up to 3 drives means I can play with linux >>14004 No free drivers? What? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2015-11-19 17:37 >>14016 The nvidia drivers are non-free. Nouveau doesn't really perform amazingly for gaymen. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2015-11-19 18:05 >>14016 Sounds like a good purchase for $300. Go for it OP. In linux you will need to use the Not-Open Source Drivers for your video card if you want to game. It's no big deal though. Which MBP did you have? Godspeed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonymous · 2015-11-19 18:06 >>14016 When they say non-free they don't mean they're costly, they mean they aren't open source and freely-editable and distrutable. Technically AMD is a little more open, but if you're not really all that worried about using open source entirely, sounds like a steal for 300$.
