Home Security Thread lainchan / sec ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Tequila · 2022-08-02 05:20 hey, I'm moving (rent) to a flat in a big city in central yurop- let's say the threat model involves drunks, burglars, sometimes there's a stabbing each month or two. I've decided to secure my flat which is on the ground floor (fug) with a security camera, solar light, maybe? Also I've considered buying some kind of melee weapon (taser etc.). Also I can't mess around with doors and walls, like drilling into them. so I'm starting Home Security thread, I'd love to hear some ideas that you practise, thanks guys ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jane Doe · 2022-08-02 07:09 >>19779 kida memey but it's the first thing that came to my head when thinking of home security ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Y.T · 2022-08-03 02:26 >>19779 > Webcams can be used as a home security system > to boost your home security, you have to compromise your online security Yeah, no... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Elliot Alderson · 2022-08-03 02:45 >>19780 gun laws are soykafed in central/western yurop, but getting a shot gun or CO gun is a way as well ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Koos van der Merwe · 2022-08-03 07:16 >>19783 just get a webcam with a physical cover ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The Fin · 2022-08-03 07:53 >>19738 If it's sending data to a server you control, and you're not using garbo/proprietary software, you're not really sacrifing privacy at all… ---------------------------------------------------------------------- John Rain · 2022-08-03 07:55 >>19786 Well I'm dyslexic apparently, wrong post. >>19783 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Agent Smith · 2022-08-04 08:36 >>19783 Online? But it's easier to just get a raspberry pi or something. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Yamaoto Toshi · 2022-09-12 04:27 >>19792 Yeah, but in that case if someone breaks into your house he can just destroy or steal whatever device you have and the proof is gone. Thats why I think if you go for cameras, you should set it up so the footage is sent somewhere for backup. Obviously it should be to a device that you own in another location, but it's a lot of work. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SHODAN · 2022-09-12 20:03 Make it look like someone is home - put some lights on a timer, even those old school physical timers. Be friendly with your neighbors, as long as your neighbors are not hoodlums and likely to rob you themselves. Motion lights are indeed a good idea. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ender · 2022-09-18 03:07 >>20137 Nah, that image is something I simply found on le Google as illustration image, not something to follow. >Alexa Nope. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Yet Another Lainon · 2023-05-04 12:09 Good topic, here's my bump. Physical security is necessary.
