Project Topic in Cybersecurity

Can someone on /sec/ help me with ideas for what a good research topic
proposal in the field of cybersecurity would be? I was thinking maybe
a tool related to ISO/IEC standards and how a company's security
system currently measures up, but would appreciate other ideas if
possible.

Write some exploits for the Hurd or some soykaf.
Or you could research something related to firmware or bloated web
apps.
I'm not into /sec/ but I wanted to bump your thread.
