           75 My research is based on designing quantitative models to address long-standing scientific problems in Quaternary geology and cryospheric science. I believe that numerical models play a central role within modern research, as they allow us to test hypotheses and dynamics quantitatively. I perform geotechnical laboratory analyses on glacial deposits and construct numerical models for capturing ice-sheet flow and glacial sedimentation.  These models improve the understanding of ice sheet change, the formation of glacial landscapes, granular mechanics, geotechnical models, and sea ice dynamics in a changing climate.

           77 Most of my teaching contains a firm basis in field observations, either directly or indirectly. I engage my students through the mixed use of in-class and out-of-class lectures, exercises, field trips, and educational IT. I have a strong interest in mixed-media usage and progressive teaching styles, and I try my best to open my student's eyes to the wonders of geoscience. As teachers, we must not strive to cater to the gifted select few but make sure every student feels welcome and interested. In the undergraduate course "Geology of Denmark", I led three field trips to national locations all over Jylland, Sealand, and Bornholm, Denmark. In "Quaternary Geology", I take the students on a four-day excursion to study glacial deposits near Limfjorden, Denmark.  Furthermore, I have taught glaciology and glacial geomorphology in Arctic environments near Kangerlussuaq, West Greenland, in 2022.
