Development Notes for Mutiny Community Version 4.17 - 2023 Oct. 20th. I thought I'd get back into leaving DevNotes in text files instead of long channel posts. Two things for this version: 1) small thing ... On the "Who are you?" login prompt if you enter "new" instead of it just coming back with "illegal username" and hanging up it is a little more polite and says "Okay you're a new user but what name do you want to be called?" and then lets you enter your name again. 2) Cross-Channel notifications. If another user posts a message in another channel besides the one you're in you can receive a notification. By default you'll only get one notification per channel (during your session). You can reconfigure this feature under the /pref (preferences) menu. You can disable the feature entirely or have it notify you for every post not just the first new one in a given channel. Also you can limit it so that it will only notify you if the post is in response to one of your posts and/or if the post mentions you (contains your username). As for the "only one notice per channel", this is reset if you visit that channel. So say you're sitting in General, someone posts in Commodore, you get a notification, they post again, you *don't* get a notification because you already got one about new message(s) in that channel, then you go to that channel, then go back to General, now you'll get another notification if another post is made in that channel. I'm kind of hoping this might spur a little more conversation (maybe even real-time) in other channels. .
