Service: the IRC Gateway of Nemesis - chatting between IRC and Nemesis Description: The IRC Gateway of Nemesis uses the extended networking features of Nemesis' GameDriver (GD) to connect to a nearby IRC server and login as an IRC robot. The applied IRC nickname is the name of the MUD prepended with a pipe-symbol '|'. Here in Nemesis it is "|Nemesis". The robot provides basic IRC/MUD communication services that work like this: From IRC: /msg |Nemesis help IrcGate provides IRC users with 'who' and 'tell' services sending a 'tell' message to the addressed Mudder's screen like this: on IRC tells you: The other way around the MUD user is enabled to send a message into IRC by the command 'tell @irc '. Syntax: tell @irc Examples: tell kiri@irc Hello Kiri! You tell Kiri on IRC: Hello Kiri! Note: Currently the IrcGate is activated in Nemesis and connected to irc.nemesis.de:6667. The command 'talk' (or 'converse') also supports 'talk @irc' (see 'help talk'). IRC (InternetRelayChat) is a chat system like many others TODAY! Its development started in 1988 and it was (one of?) the first global internet-based chat system(s). For more about IRC, see here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Relay_Chat . The IRC Gateway has been developed by lynX - see 'whois lynx' or https://nemesis.de/lpc/bin/finger/lynx . See also: helpdir/tell, helpdir/talk
