Introductions

 Attendees -- Brenda Bishop, Laura Naylor, Maria Rodriguez, Gene Black, Alida Brown.

 Staff -- Jay Nemrow

Review of the powerpoint presentation, talking notes, and associated handout.

 Many suggestions given for the presentation.

 Brenda talked to Kiwanis about taking this presentation to them.  They can do it any Wednesday.  

Alida suggests county commission and Rotary (meets on Thursdays).

Brenda suggests Altrusa, the Chamber, Ministerial Alliance.

Maybe hit Elks and American Legion when we decide upon a curriculum.

It was also considered for presenting to City Commission, and the MCCH Council.

Guttmacher Report from Alida

 She brought a powerpoint and report.

Maria's report on Linda Phillips Lehrer information

 She suggested the quiz.  She might be able to produce local statistics from it.  Alida reports that Dr. Faith wants to see more Sex ed. in the middle school:  a youth asks "what hole will it come out of?"

 Maria reads a memo from Linda.  Plan a careful approach to reach the schools probably next year.  she mentions that youth development programs are a less overt way to affect teen pregnancy.

 We need to look at this to do next year.

 Maria found web banners and press releases on the coalition website that we could put out.

 There is discussion of putting the web address for the quiz on business cards to hand out to youth and how we would get this out.

Homework

 Maria & Brenda -- will give the presentation to Kiwanis on May 19. (noon @ Kbobs)  Presentation to County commission & Rotary on (noon @ Holiday Inn) May 13.

 Maria -- will send Jay a link to a pre/post-test for the presentation.
