86a The Pennsylvania State University Libraries LIBRARIES CODE OF CONDUCT The University Libraries abides by the local ordinances, the statutes of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the University Code of Conduct and other University policies which guide behavior on the campus. Presented here are particular provisions for behavior within the Libraries. 1. FOOD AND BEVERAGE Food particles, gum, and spilled drinks attract rodents and insects, stain paper, and cause mold and mildew. Consumption of food and beverages in the Libraries is prohibited with the exception of designated areas. 2. NOISE/DISORDERLY BEHAVIOR Disorderly behavior of any kind, including excessive noise, or harassing other patrons or Libraries staff is prohibited. 3. TOBACCO PRODUCTS Smoking and the use of other tobacco products in the Libraries are prohibited. 4. DEFACING LIBRARIES' MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT, FURNITURE, AND FACILITIES Cutting, tearing, or defacing materials such as books, periodicals, pamphlets, microforms, or tampering with equipment, furniture, and facilities is prohibited. 5. ROLLERSKATES, ROLLERBLADES, SKATEBOARDS AND BICYCLES The use of rollerskates, rollerblades and skateboards in the Libraries is prohibited. Bicycles are not permitted in buildings. 6. ANIMALS No animals, except those used to assist people with disabilities, are allowed in the Libraries. 7. LOITERING Loitering in the buildings is prohibited. 8. SOLICITING Soliciting for donations or signatures on petitions is not allowed. 9. PHOTOGRAPHING AND FILMING The taking of photographs or making films in the Libraries requires the written permission obtained from the office of the Dean of Libraries. 10. ATTIRE Suitable clothing and shoes are expected. ÿ . 0
