A BILL
To amend section 1713 of title 38, United States Code, to provide
continuing eligibility for medical care under that section for
individuals who become eligible for hospital insurance benefits under
part A of title XVIII of the Social Security Act by turning 65.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. CONTINUING ELIGIBILITY FOR BENEFITS UNDER CHAMPVA OF
INDIVIDUALS WHO BECOME ELIGIBLE FOR HOSPITAL INSURANCE
BENEFITS UNDER THE SOCIAL SECURITY ACT BY TURNING 65.
Section 1713(d) of title 38, United States Code, is amended--
(1) by inserting ``(2)'' before ``Notwithstanding''; and
(2) by inserting before paragraph (2), as designated by
paragraph (1) of this section, the following new paragraph (1):
``(1) Notwithstanding section 1086(d)(1) of title 10 or any other
provision of law, an individual eligible for medical care under this
section who is also entitled to hospital insurance benefits under part
A of title XVIII of the Social Security Act by reason of being 65 years
of age or older shall not lose eligibility for medical care under this
section by virtue of entitlement to such hospital insurance
benefits.''.
