          Honoring the Colorado Wing of the Civil Air Patrol.

 Mr. Tancredo (for himself, Mr. Hefley, Mr. Schaffer, Mr. McInnis, Mr. 
Udall of Colorado, and Ms. DeGette) submitted the following resolution; 
          which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

                               RESOLUTION


 
          Honoring the Colorado Wing of the Civil Air Patrol.

Whereas the Colorado Wing of the Civil Air Patrol was established in 1941 as a 
        component of the Civil Air Patrol, to conduct air and ground searches 
        for downed or missing airplanes, hunters, hikers, and others in 
        Colorado;
Whereas the largest nongovernmental and noncommercial communications system in 
        Colorado is operated and maintained by the Colorado Wing of the Civil 
        Air Patrol;
Whereas the Colorado Wing of the Civil Air Patrol is comprised of more than 
        1,900 unpaid volunteer members, including approximately 800 cadets and 
        1,100 senior members, and operates 14 Civil Air Patrol airplanes and 
        nearly 50 member owned airplanes in its air search and rescue missions;
Whereas the Colorado Wing of the Civil Air Patrol safely flew 1,216 of the 6,629 
        air search and rescue hours flown nationally by the Civil Air Patrol 
        during fiscal year 2000 and was credited with saving the lives of 15 of 
        the 64 people found nationwide by the Civil Air Patrol;
Whereas the Colorado Wing of the Civil Air Patrol participated in 36 Air Force-
        operated search and rescue missions and responded to 157 other missions 
        around Colorado;
Whereas the Colorado Wing of the Civil Air Patrol safely, successfully, and 
        responsibly flew Civil Air Patrol airplanes for over 3,400 hours in 
        fiscal year 2000, averaging 243 hours per aircraft; and
Whereas the Colorado Wing of the Civil Air Patrol holds annual camps to train 
        cadets in ground search and rescue field and emergency skills, along 
        with leadership skills and self-discipline: Now, therefore, be it
    Resolved, That the House of Representatives recognizes the Colorado 
Wing of the Civil Air Patrol for its tireless efforts and exemplary 
service to the State of Colorado and to the Nation.
