Ms. Rivers introduced the following bill; which was referred to the
Committee on House Administration, and in addition to the Committee on
Government Reform, for a period to be subsequently determined by the
Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall
within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned

A BILL
To prevent Members of Congress from receiving any automatic pay
adjustment which might otherwise take effect in 2002.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. NO AUTOMATIC PAY ADJUSTMENT FOR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS IN 2002.
The rate of pay for each office or position referred to in section
601(a)(1) of the Legislative Reorganization Act of 1946 (2 U.S.C.
31(1)) shall not be increased by reason of any adjustment which, but
for this section, would otherwise take effect under section 601(a)(2)
of such Act in 2002.
