A BILL
To expand the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund of 2001 to
include individuals diagnosed with anthrax.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Anthrax Victims Assistance Act''.
SEC. 2. COMPENSATION FOR ANTHRAX VICTIMS.
(a) Expansion of Program.--The Attorney General, acting through the
Special Master appointed under the September 11th Victim Compensation
Fund of 2001 (title IV of the Air Transportation Safety and System
Stabilization Act (Public Law 107-42; 115 Stat. 237 et seq.; 49 U.S.C.
40101 note)), shall expand the compensation program carried out under
that title to include as an eligible individual any individual
diagnosed with anthrax during the period beginning September 11, 2001,
and ending December 31, 2001.
(b) Basis for Participation.--The compensation program and all
other provisions of that title shall apply with respect to an
individual made eligible pursuant to subsection (a) to the same extent,
on the same basis, and subject to the same conditions and limitations,
as that title applies with respect to any other eligible individual.
