Mr. Latham introduced the following bill; which was referred to the
Committee on the Judiciary, and in addition to the Committee on
Education and the Workforce, for a period to be subsequently determined
by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as
fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned

A BILL
To extend the ``Basic Pilot'' employment verification system, and for
other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Basic Pilot Extension Act of 2001''.
SEC. 2. EXTENSION OF PROGRAM.
Section 401(b) of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant
Responsibility Act of 1966 (division C of Public Law 104-208 (Sept. 30,
1996), 110 Stat. 3009-656) is amended by striking ``4-year period'' and
inserting in lieu thereof ``6-year period''.
SEC. 3. EFFECTIVE DATE.
The amendments made by this Act shall take effect on the date of
enactment of this Act.
