 introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on

 To direct the Secretary of the Interior to provide assistance for the 
  maintenance of gravesites of former Presidents of the United States.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. ASSISTANCE FOR MAINTENANCE OF PRESIDENTIAL GRAVESITES.

    (a) Short Title.--This Act may be cited as the ``American Legacy 
Preservation Act''.
    (b) Assistance for Maintenance of Gravesites.--Upon the request of 
an owner of non-Federal land or the head of any Federal agency with 
jurisdiction over Federal land where a gravesite of a former President 
of the United States is located, the Secretary of the Interior shall, 
with funds otherwise available to the Secretary for such general 
purposes, provide technical assistance, financial assistance, or both, 
to such owner or Federal agency for the maintenance of that gravesite.
