Mr. Pallone) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the
Committee on the Judiciary

A BILL
To protect school web pages from fraud and related activity.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``School Safety Enhancement and
Website Protection Act of 2001''.
SEC. 2. PROTECTION OF SCHOOL WEB PAGES FROM FRAUD AND RELATED ACTIVITY.
Section 1030 of title 18, United States Code, is amended--
(1) in section (a)(2)(A), by inserting before the semicolon
at the end the following: ``, or contained in an educational
record of an educational institution'';
(2) in subsection (e)(2)(A)--
(A) by striking ``a financial institution'' and
inserting ``an educational institution, a financial
institution,''; and
(B) by striking ``the financial institution'' and
inserting ``the educational institution, the financial
institution,'';
(3) in subsection (e)(8)(D), by striking ``; and'' and
inserting ``, or poses a threat to public health or safety;'';
(4) in subsection (e)(9), by striking the period at the end
and inserting ``; and''; and
(5) in subsection (e), by adding at the end the following
new paragraph:
``(10) the term `educational institution' includes an
elementary school (as defined in section 14101 of the
Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C.
8801)), secondary school (as defined in such section), and
institution of higher education (as defined in section 101 of
the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1001)).''.
