Mr. Wu introduced the following bill; which was referred to the
Committee on Energy and Commerce, and in addition to the Committee on
Armed Services, for a period to be subsequently determined by the
Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall
within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned

A BILL
To eliminate the use of the Savannah River nuclear waste separation
facilities in South Carolina.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SAVANNAH RIVER NUCLEAR WASTE SEPARATION FACILITIES.
The Secretary of Energy shall terminate the use of the Savannah
River nuclear waste separation facilities in South Carolina as a
nuclear waste separation facility for spent nuclear fuel and other
irradiated material--
(1) at the beginning of fiscal year 2003, or
(2) on the date the spent nuclear fuel and other irradiated
material at such facilities has been separated,
whichever occurs first.
