                                 A BILL


 
    To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to extend enterprise 
         communities for the same period as empowerment zones.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. EXTENSION OF ENTERPRISE COMMUNITY TREATMENT THROUGH 2009.

    Subparagraph (A) of section 1391(d)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code 
of 1986 (relating to period for which designation is in effect) is 
amended to read as follows:
                    ``(A) December 31, 2009,''.
