 Mr. DeFazio introduced the following bill; which was referred to the 
                Committee on Education and the Workforce

                                 A BILL


 
     To amend the Head Start Act to authorize the appropriation of 
                 $11,500,000,000 for fiscal year 2002.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,
That section 639(a) of the Head Start Act (42 U.S.C. 9834(a)) is 
amended by striking ``such sums'' and all that follows through 
``2003'', and inserting ``$11,500,000,000 for fiscal year 2002 and such 
sums as may be necessary for fiscal year 2003''.
