I'm an electrical engineer. No I'm not confused. :-) A lossfree NTSC signal has a theoretical maximum of 550, with 525 actual in the real-world. While home recorders were limited to 220 horizontal (or 425 with super-vhs), studio recorders of the 1980s were capable of recording the full 525 horizontal resolution. Hence my previous question - Since the TNG editors had VCRs that could record the full 525 horizontal lines resolution, without loss, why would the master tape only be 400? (Another question I have - What are they using now for shows like Enterprise?) troy . 0
