Assume that the Bible is a compendium of reasonably reliable
journalists' accounts of observed events. If so, then somebody
somewhere has got some *awesome* tech.  It's not described because you
only see the results from the viewpoint of people who don't have a
clue how that it's tech, let alone how it works, but that doesn't mean
that it's not there.

In some ways it  suggests to me an alien visitation, possibly during a
war.
