I was there, too. I may have seen it even before that date since many
shows were shown earlier (one or two days) on Canadian TV.

Star Trek: Gene's Philosophy was all about men and wimmin gettin' it
on!

It was about a kinder and gentler USA (in the form of a Federation)
that still knew how to kick ass when necessary.

It was about a swashbucklin' ladies man who had LOTS of babes, drank
beer (ale) and slugged it out.

It was about EXPORTING the American way of life to countless planets,
sometimes in exchange for a 'piece-of-the-action'.
