First there was the whole "Space Western" theme. I never much liked westerns, and putting them in outer space doesn't make them any more appealing to me. I also seem to remember that there were no aliens in the show. Alien are cool. Aliens are fun. Aliens can even be hot and sexy. A space adventure without aliens is like...well, you can fill in the blank. I also recall ( correct me if I'm wrong ) that the story is supposed to take place in a solar system that has hundreds of inhabited planets. Pardon my French, but bullshit! What kind of freaked out orbital mechanics would have to be at work for hundreds of Earth sized planets to all fit into the habitable zone of a solar system? Now, I don't claim that Star Trek was the most rigidly scientific show of all time, but at least they didn't make that kind of silly mistake. They had other kinds of silly mistakes to make. But, Firefly had the accuracy to have the space scenes without sound effects. Is that also true in the movie?
