I like Bujold a lot, but I do have a hard time picturing her in the role.
Of course, if Janeway was INTENTIONALLY a joke, maybe casting somebody you
didn't take seriously as a Starship Captain was the idea.

That said, the other name usually mentioned as a top contender was Lindsey
Wagner.  I think she'd have worked.
